Ammar Al-Ma’amari is an Omani human rights defender and blogger recognized for his prominent role in exposing corruption and advocating for prisoners of conscience during the Omani Spring. He has been involved in raising awareness about human rights violations in Oman and using his platform to promote transparency and accountability. On 23 February 2013, Al-Ma’amari was forcibly taken by security forces from Muscat airport to an unknown location. The circumstances of his detention were part of a broader pattern of harassment and abduction targeting human rights defenders, bloggers, and activists in Oman.
