Ghaith Matar Hamad Al-Shibli is an internet activist from Oman. On 7 June 2022, he faced charges in relation to his activities online, but was released on bail. However, on 21 August 2023, he faced retrial on new charges related to his creation of and participation in a social media group with other activists, in the case known as “Ghaith spaces”. Ghaith Al-Shibli created this free space on Twitter (now X) that he devoted to various intellectual discussions, which were joined by Internet activists Abdullah Al-Muqbali, Ali Al-Ghafri and Maryam Al-Nuaimi.
