Bahaa Al-Halabi

Bahaa Al-Halabi is a Syrian journalist and Syria TV correspondent based in the city of al-Bab in the eastern countryside of Aleppo who survived an assassination attempt on the evening of 6 January 2021. He was first targeted by two masked, unknown gunmen wielding automatic weapons as he sat in his car outside his home. He was shot in the hand, leg, and left shoulder and transported to al-Bab Hospital. His injuries improved, and he was discharged from the hospital on 8 January 2021, though he later underwent additional surgery to remove the bullet lodged in his shoulder. In a televised interview, Al-Halabi described the situation in al-Bab as having “become, in fact, a ghost town” due to ongoing violence by armed factions controlling the area.
