Abdalaziz Al-Khayyir
Abdalaziz Al-Khayyir is a Syrian human rights defender and a prominent member of the National Coordination Body for Democratic Change, a coalition of political opposition groups. On 20 September 2012, Al-Khayyir was arrested shortly after returning from a trip to China. Al-Khayyir remains forcibly disappeared, and his fate is still unknown. Al-Khayyir’s case exemplifies the widespread and systematic use of enforced disappearance in Syria, despite UN Security Council Resolution 2139, which calls for an end to such practices.
