Basheer Al-Jahlani, Yemeni media worker and cameraman, accompanied Haikal Al-Ariki from YMC TV in Taiz for an interview on 9 March 2016, when both were threatened, insulted, and beaten by two unidentified individuals while attempting to carry out journalistic work. This incident formed part of a coordinated campaign targeting nine media workers in a single week.
