Ala’a Al-Khaiwani, daughter of the late Yemeni journalist and human rights defender Abdulkarim Al-Khaiwani, has faced continued harassment and threats due to her family’s legacy and her own activism. On 6 March 2023, she was injured in a suspicious hit-and-run incident in Sana’a, which many believe was an intentional act of intimidation. This incident follows a pattern of targeting her family as her father was assassinated in 2015, and her brother, Mohammed Al-Khaiwani, has also been subjected to threats and harassment.
