Luai Saeed

Luai Saeed is a Yemeni youth activist and founder of the first English-language youth magazine in Yemen who has spoken internationally about the humanitarian and political crisis in his country. At a United Nations side event in 2015, Saeed presented statistics and data on the devastating humanitarian situation on the ground, highlighting the absence of youth participation in political and peace processes despite the central role of young people in the 2011 revolution. His work has focused on amplifying the voices of Yemeni youth, advocating for their inclusion in decision-making, and raising awareness of the impact of war on civilian life. His public advocacy has taken place in a highly repressive and dangerous environment where both Houthi authorities and forces aligned with President Abdrabbo Mansour Hadi and the Saudi-led coalition have cracked down on independent media and civil society.
