Naseer Bassem is a civil society activist from Dhi Qar Governorate, Iraq, who was arrested on 17 October 2024 by the Ministry of Interior’s Intelligence Agency. His arrest was part of a broader wave of detentions targeting peaceful activists engaged in the popular protest movement. Bassem was charged with inciting protests. He was released on 2 December 2024 alongside several other activists following increasing public pressure and calls for justice.
