Aziz Al-Ahmadi

Aziz Al-Ahmadi, an independent Yemeni journalist based in Shabwa province, was sentenced by the Ataq Primary Court on 21 January 2025 to a four-month suspended prison term over a Facebook post dated 15 August 2024, in which he questioned the decision of local authorities to lease private land for a solar energy project instead of using public land, and criticised the ongoing electricity outages in the region. On 9 September 2024, the Shabwa Public Prosecution charged Aziz Al-Ahmadi with spreading false news and inciting tribal or regional division. Aziz Al-Ahmadi denied all charges and stated his intention to pursue all available legal avenues.
