Musab Al‑Hattami, a Dutch‐Yemeni journalist and filmmaker, was killed on 26 April 2025 near Marib during a Houthi drone strike while documenting life in his family’s hometown. He held Dutch nationality and had returned to Yemen with his wife and brother, photographer Suhaib al‑Hattami, to work on a documentary. The attack also killed three government soldiers and seriously injured his brother. The Committee to Protect Journalists denounced the strike as indiscriminate violence exposing journalists in Yemen to extreme risk and called for accountability. Similar condemnations came from Dutch authorities and the Dutch Association of Journalists, emphasising the vital role of journalists in conflict zones.
