Mohammed Rasool
Mohammed Rasool is an Iraqi civil society activist who was arrested on 25 June 2025 by security forces in civilian clothes while peacefully protesting outside the office of the Kurdistan National Stance Movement in Sulaymaniyah. He was detained alongside other teachers, employees and activists including Shahla Ali, Munira Abdullah, Nour Farqi, Dilawar Ali, Zrian Ali and Najmuddin Mohammed. Earlier, he had been held in a maximum security prison from 27 August 2015 to 05 January 2016 and was released on bail. Mohammed Rasool had been arrested alongside two British colleagues who were released after 11 days. The latest arrests took place in the context of growing unrest among public sector workers, particularly teachers, who have been demanding improved working conditions and respect for their rights.
