Murad Mirza Ibrahim was a journalist from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq working for Çira FM. On 08 July 2024, he was seriously injured in a Turkish airstrike targeting the media team of the Yazidi satellite channels Çira TV and Çira FM on the Tal Qasab-Sinjar road in Sinjar district. Ibrahim was transferred to a hospital in Mosul but died on the night of 11 July 2024. The attack occurred while the team was covering the tenth anniversary of the IS massacre at Tal Al-Qasab. UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay condemned the killing, calling for a thorough investigation and reiterating the call to respect UN Security Council Resolution 2222/2015 on the protection of journalists in conflict situations.
