Abdulrahman Mohammed Al-Hamidi

Abdulrahman Mohammed Al-Hamidi is a Yemeni journalist who was summoned on 24 May 2025 to the headquarters of the Third Security Zone in Ma’rib Governorate after publishing a Facebook post documenting the assault of his colleague, journalist Najmaldin Al-Sabri, by armed men. Al-Hamidi was mistreated, detained for several hours, and interrogated by the zone director, who forced him to delete his post before releasing him on bail. On the following day, 25 May 2025, he was again summoned and compelled to sign a pledge before security leaders that he would not publicise any developments in the governorate without prior consultation with the security services. Al-Hamidi later posted a photo of the pledge and the bail on his Facebook account, alongside solidarity messages from colleagues. The Third Security Zone, whose command centre is in Ma’rib city and which controls forces in Ma’rib and Shabwa, operates under the authority of the internationally recognised government.
