Akram Karem is a Yemeni journalist and human rights defender. He has been active in exposing corruption and criticising local authorities in the Al-Tawahi district of Aden through his reporting and social media. On 18 June 2023, Akram Karem was arrested by security forces affiliated with the Southern Transitional Council in Aden because of his critical Facebook posts. He was released on 20 June 2023 following an order by the governor of Aden.
