Fatima Al-Nassif
Fatima Al-Nassif is a Saudi nurse and human rights activist from Qatif who has been subjected to arbitrary detention and ill-treatment by Saudi authorities. On 5 September 2017, she was forcibly apprehended by intelligence police officers while travelling in a vehicle with her two daughters. During the arrest, she sustained physical injuries, including facial trauma. It is reported that her detention was linked to her peaceful activism, which included providing medical care to injured protesters and advocating for the rights of prisoners of conscience, including her two brothers who are currently imprisoned. It is reported that she was subjected to torture and psychological abuse during her period of detention. In June 2021, her son was murdered in Canada under suspicious circumstances, and she was denied the right to attend his funeral. Following a period of nearly six years in prison, she was released on 01 July 2023.
