Rami Al-Razzouk
Rami Al-Razzouk is a Syrian media activist and director of the Raqqa office of the ANA New Media Foundation. On 01 October 2013, he was abducted by armed men at a checkpoint between Raqqa and Tabaqa, and was reportedly severely tortured before being transferred to Deir ez-Zor. His office and equipment at Radio ANA were subsequently raided (equipment confiscated and communications shut down) and there remains no accurate information about his whereabouts or the reasons for his kidnapping. The Gulf Centre for Human Rights condemns the abduction, emphasising that the attack is directly related to his work defending freedom of information and expression, and calls for his immediate release.
