Anwar al-Sharif is a Yemeni journalist, photographer, and TV photographer who uses his Facebook page to share his work, and he is also affiliated with Al-Amin Humanitarian Aid. On 31 May 2022, Anwar al-Sharif was arrested in Al-Khoukha district, south of Al-Hodeidah, by the National Resistance Forces, a militia led by Tariq Saleh, a member of the Presidential Council. He had been accused of photographing a military area with a drone, near an ancient mosque, while accompanied by the Director-General of the Cultural Office in the local government of Hodeidah Governorate. During his detention, Anwar al-Sharif’s personal property, including his mobile phones, was confiscated, and he was denied contact with his family or lawyer. Despite his cooperation with the investigation, the security forces refused to release him on bail. After being held for several days, he was released on 02 June 2022.
