Minas Al-Suhail
Minas Al-Suhail is an Iraqi journalist and media figure who has been targeted while carrying out his professional duties in a context of ongoing restrictions on press freedom and attacks against media workers in Iraq. Minas Al-Suhail is a correspondent for Al-Sharqiya Satellite TV and previously presented the programme “Express,” which focused on the lives of Iraqi expatriates in Europe, before hosting talk shows and service-oriented programmes. On 06 April 2025, Minas Al-Suhail was physically and verbally assaulted inside the Mall of Iraq in the Al-Dora district of Baghdad while covering a ceremony honouring the national football team following their qualification for the World Cup finals. According to his statements and video evidence shared publicly, he was attacked by mall security personnel while performing his duties and was subsequently threatened by the mall owner. He sustained injuries to his head, hand and body, as documented in a medical report. Minas Al-Suhail later filed a legal complaint against the mall owner and the security personnel involved in the assault.
