This report by the Urgent Action Fund, “Putting Out Fires Till We Burn Out: Feminist Funding Lessons for Supporting Collective Care from the South Caucasus and Western Balkans”, examines how feminist and LGBTQI+ organizers in the South Caucasus and Western Balkans practice collective care under conditions of war, authoritarianism, economic precarity, and shrinking civic space. Based on dozens of interviews alongside ethnographic observation and grant analysis, this report demonstrates that collective care is essential infrastructure for movement sustainability and serves as a case study for why and how crisis response should center care.
