Abad Al-Jaradi is a Yemeni sports journalist and board member of Wahda Sanaa Club. On 1 October 2022, he was abducted from his home in Sana’a by an armed group affiliated with the Houthi movement. The abduction occurred shortly after he publicly criticised the Yemeni Football Association, highlighting issues within the sport’s administration. This was not his first detention as in 2018, he was previously kidnapped in front of his club and held for four months without charges. The Gulf Centre for Human Rights condemned the Houthi militia’s actions, calling for his immediate release and an end to the targeting of journalists and human rights defenders in Yemen.
