Abdelhamid Al-Bayoush

Abdelhamid Al-Bayoush is a Syrian human rights activist who was arrested in the early hours of 22 September 2018 when an armed group stormed the home of human rights lawyer Yasser Al-Saleem in Kafr Nabl in Idlib governorate, where he was visiting him. Both Al-Saleem and Al-Bayoush were taken to al-Eqab prison in the Jabal al-Zawiya area, approximately 40 km south-west of Idlib city, for reasons that were not made public. The Gulf Centre for Human Rights strongly condemned their arrest, stating that it was solely because of their peaceful human rights work, including Al-Saleem’s public calls for the release of detainees and abductees, and called for their immediate and unconditional release.
