Abdelrahman Al-Rahman Hamada

Abdelrahman Al-Rahman Hamada is a Syrian human rights defender and member of the Syrian Centre for Media and Freedom of Expression. He was arrested on 16 February 2012 during a raid by Air Force Intelligence on SCM’s Damascus office, and held incommunicado at a military facility run by the Fourth Armoured Division under Maher al-Assad, alongside several colleagues, with no access to lawyers or family. His hearing on terrorism-related charges before the Anti-Terrorism Court in Damascus alleging “publicising terrorist acts” was initially scheduled and then postponed, with no public updates on the proceedings or his current status.
