Abdulmajeed Sabra
Abdulmajeed Sabra is a Yemeni human rights lawyer. He was arrested on 15 September 2025 by an armed group affiliated with the Houthis after they stormed his office in the Shamila area of Sana’a and took him to an unknown location. The arrest appears linked to a Facebook post he had published on 24 September 2024 in which he stressed the importance of commemorating 26 September 1962, the anniversary of the declaration of the Republic in Yemen, a date opposed by the Houthis. Sabra is recognised as one of the most prominent lawyers defending prisoners of conscience in Yemen and has long used his Facebook page to defend civil and human rights as well as to share his personal views. Before his arrest, he was subjected to targeted incitement campaigns on social media, particularly from Houthi-aligned figures such as Abdul Wahab Al-Khail, advisor to the Houthi-run Interior Ministry, who accused him of siding with “traitors” after he expressed readiness to defend detainees and journalists. As of now, there is no publicly verified information regarding his charges, the conditions of his detention, his exact location, or whether he has been allowed legal access.
