Adel Al-Nazili

Adel Al-Nazili is a Yemeni political commentator and journalist from Al-Mokha in Taiz Governorate who was abducted by UAE-aligned paramilitary forces in Yemen. On 18 November 2025, Adel Al-Nazili was reportedly seized from his home in Al-Mokha by members of the National Resistance Forces (NRF), paramilitary units loyal to the internationally recognised government and backed by the United Arab Emirates, after he criticised senior NRF leadership on social media. According to press freedom and human rights organisations and a family member who asked to remain anonymous for security reasons, Adel Al-Nazili was transferred initially to a detention centre of the coastal security sector and then moved to a facility known as “Al-Qanuniya” in Al-Hudaydah Governorate, a detention site associated with the NRF that is reported to have poor conditions.

On 24 December 2025, journalist Adel Al-Nazili was released by the NRF.

He was previously detained by pro-government forces in October 2024, with his writing featured in the Al-Mokha-based outlet News Yemen and the independent media platform Al-Yawm Al-Thamin Foundation.
