Ahmed Abdelkhaleq Hajar
Ahmed Abdelkhaleq Hajar is a Yemeni YouTuber and activist known for his critical videos addressing corruption and abuses by Houthi authorities. In December 2022, he was arrested by Houthi security forces in Sana’a after publishing a video accusing the Houthi government of corruption. On 21 March 2023, the Specialised Criminal Court of First Instance in Sana’a sentenced him to one year in prison, imposed a fine of 10 million Yemeni riyals (approximately $40,000), and ordered the closure of his YouTube channel. His arrest and sentencing were part of a broader crackdown on freedom of expression in Yemen.
