Ahmed Ayed

Ahmed Yahya Ayed is a Yemeni journalist and the editor-in-chief of the news website Marib Press. He is recognised for his investigative reporting on corruption and his critical stance towards both the Houthi movement and the internationally recognised Yemeni government. On 7 June 2023, the Marib Prosecution Office issued an arrest warrant for Ahmed Yahya Ayed, along with four other journalists, following the publication of reports alleging corruption within the judiciary of Marib. In contrast to his colleagues, who were overseas at the time, Ahmed Yahya Ayed remained in Marib, a circumstance that gave rise to concerns regarding his safety and the possibility of arbitrary detention. In his writings, Ahmed Yahya Ayed has accused former President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi and his sons of contributing to military setbacks in Marib, highlighting internal divisions and mismanagement within the government. The journalist’s forthright approach to his profession has established him as a distinguished individual who is advocating for transparency and accountability in Yemen.
