Ahmed Helal Abbas

Ahmed Helal Abbas is a Bahraini human rights defender and member of the Bahrain Youth Society for Human Rights (BYSHR), an organisation known for its active role in documenting and reporting human rights violations in Bahrain. In May 2013, he was among several BYSHR members subjected to systematic targeting by Bahraini authorities, a campaign that included arbitrary arrests, torture, and judicial harassment. While specific details about Ahmed Helal Abbas’s individual case are limited, the broader crackdown on BYSHR members during this period involved severe abuses. Notably, Naji Fateel, a prominent BYSHR figure, was arrested on 2 May 2013 and subjected to torture methods such as electric shocks, beatings, and threats of sexual assault.
