Ali Al-Faqih is a Yemeni journalist and the editor-in-chief of the independent news website Al-Masdar Online. Following the Houthi takeover of Sana’a in 2014, Ali Al-Faqih was compelled to flee the country in order to continue his work in exile. On 07 June 2023, arrest warrants were issued against Ali Al-Faqih and other journalists following the publication of investigative reports alleging corruption within the judicial authorities of Marib. These actions were perceived as attempts to suppress independent journalism and silence dissenting voices in Yemen. Ali Al-Faqih has been vocal in his criticism of the Houthi leadership, asserting that they should be held accountable for the crimes that have had a devastating effect on the country. His unwavering commitment to press freedom and exposing corruption has made him a prominent figure in the fight for human rights and freedom of expression in Yemen.
