Ali Al-Khayal is a broadcaster and presenter on Al-Baghdadia satellite channel. He was arrested on the evening of New Year’s Day 2025 from his home in the Bob al-Sham area of Baghdad by security forces based on an oral order from the investigative judge. He was accused of insulting the Iraqi government following a complaint filed by the Prime Minister. Al-Khayal used harsh language when addressing the Prime Minister during an episode of his programme “We Are the Authority”. He was released on bail on 6 January 2025.
