Bassem Rahim is an Iraqi blogger. On 17 November 2023, while on a tourist trip to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), he posted a video on TikTok documenting the flooded streets of Dubai after a wave of heavy rainfall. The next day, he was arbitrarily arrested by security forces, who charged him with insulting the city. He was imprisoned for 42 days until his eventual release and return home.
