Dr Mohammed Al-Mansoori

Dr. Mohammed Ali Saleh Al-Mansoor Al-Mansoori, born in 1957, is an Emirati from the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, Al-Dhait Al-Janoubi region. He obtained a PhD in Law from the University of Glasgow in 2002, and is related to the ruling family. He previously served as Chief of Staff at the Office of the Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah, and as the Sharia and Legal Advisor to the Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah. He was arrested on 16 July 2012 because of his affiliation with the Al-Islah Society. He was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment, followed by three years’ probation. After he served his sentence he remained detained, and was therefore being arbitrarily detained beyond the completion of his prison sentence. In December 2023, Al-Mansoori was among the 84 defendants charged in the widely-criticised “UAE84” case, which utilises fabricated terrorism charges in order to illegally extend the sentences of the accused, none of whom have committed any new offences. On 10 July 2024, Dr. Al-Mansoori was sentenced to life in prison.
