Dr. Qusay Shafiq is an Iraqi academic. He uses his account on X to express his views and expose corruption. On 13 July 2024, he was arbitrarily dismissed from his teaching position at Al-Esraa University in Baghdad in retaliation for opinions he had published online, which included criticisms of the state of university education in Iraq. On 28 July 2024, he announced that he had filed a judicial complaint in relation to his arbitrary dismissal, and that a hearing would be held regarding the decision before the Karrada Primary Court on 8 August 2024.
