Falah Younis Suleiman is a Syrian citizen who was arrested in January 2021 for criticising the governor of Tartous on Facebook. He was among eight individuals detained for “communicating with and dealing with suspicious websites” according to a statement issued by the Syrian Ministry of Interior on 31 January 2021 in response to social media posts the authorities considered false or harmful. He remains in detention as part of a broader crackdown on free expression online.
