Haikal Al-Ariki, Yemeni journalist and media worker, was among nine journalists and media personnel targeted in a single week by actions of harassment and intimidation, which included injury, arrest, assault, suspension, threats, home targeting, break-ins, and other violations across several governorates. He specifically suffered an injury on 21 March 2016 in Taiz at the hands of the Houthi group (Ansar Allah), as part of a broader wave of repression affecting numerous media professionals during that period.
