Hani bin Ali Al-Sarhani is an Omani businessman and internet activist who, on 27 August 2022, announced via a video on his YouTube and Twitter accounts the commencement of a peaceful sit-in in Muscat alongside his colleagues Mahmoud bin Al-Murr Al-Ghabshi and Saud Al-Mardouf Al-Kathiri, aiming to advocate for economic reforms, improved income levels, simplification of government procedures, and the fight against corruption, despite adhering to laws limiting gatherings to fewer than ten people, they were arrested within hours by the Internal Security Service and taken to an undisclosed location without any communication with their families or legal representation, marking Hani bin Ali Al-Sarhani’s second arrest that month following a previous detention on 09 August 2022 after he publicly appealed for governmental support for business people and citizens during challenging times.
