Hassan Nabil is an Iraqi journalist. He has been denied the right to a union identity card by the Journalists’ Syndicate, despite twelve years of requests. On 20 July 2023, he was injured after security personnel at the Al-Taif Exchange Company headquarters in Baghdad opened fire on him while he was broadcasting live on the economic TV channel “Iraq 24.” He was then detained by security personnel for an hour inside the bank before a security force secured his exit from the building. He filed a lawsuit, but was unable to provide a union identity card to the judge, as the Journalists’ Syndicate continued to deny his request.
