Hawre Kurdi is a civil society activist from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. He was arrested by security forces in Erbil Governorate on 19 March 2025, accused of organising Nowruz celebrations in the Qandil area. He was detained at an unknown location for 25 days before being released on 14 April 2025. Kurdi has previously been arrested multiple times due to his outspoken opposition to Turkish military attacks on civilian areas and villages within the Kurdistan Region.
