Hussam Ahmed Bakri is a Yemeni journalist and media director who was arrested on 24 February 2025 by forces affiliated with the Seventh Giants Brigade, a component of the “National Resistance”. The arrest occurred in the Hays district of Al Hudaydah Governorate, western Yemen. According to human rights sources, Hussam Ahmed Bakri was detained while having breakfast with a colleague and was subsequently taken to the brigade’s detention facility. The arrest followed a post he made on Facebook criticizing the intervention in executive authority’s prerogatives and the use of repression and violence against opponents.
