Issa Mardi Juhaim Al-Shammari is a Qatari online activist who was arbitrarily arrested on 21 July 2022 by the State Security Apparatus, alongside his colleagues Abdullah bin Ahmed Bu Matar Al-Mohannadi and Saud bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Thani, due to their peaceful social media activities, particularly their involvement in the “National Campaign for Travel-Banned Citizens” established on 12 July 2022 to advocate for citizens arbitrarily prohibited from traveling. Although Issa Mardi Juhaim Al-Shammari was released on 22 September 2022, he had previously suffered from the confiscation of his personal documents since October 2014, which deprived him of fundamental rights such as marriage, employment, healthcare access, and even obtaining a mobile phone chip, throughout their detention, the three activists were held in solitary confinement without access to legal counsel or family contact.
