Kamel Karaki

Kamel Karaki was a cameraman for Al-Manar TV who was killed on 24 September 2024 in an Israeli airstrike on the town of Qantara in southern Lebanon. With over 25 years of experience covering events in the region, Kamel Karaki was well-known in the Lebanese media landscape. The airstrike struck a civilian area with no reported military activity at the time, targeting his place of residence or work. His death was part of a wave of attacks by Israeli forces against journalists during the 2023-2024 war, in violation of international humanitarian law that recognises journalists as civilians who must be protected.
