Mahmoud Hamad Al-Rawahi

Mahmoud Hamad Al-Rawahi is an Omani human rights defender who has been actively involved in advocating for freedom of expression, assembly, and the rights of prisoners of conscience. He was targeted by Omani security forces and detained for his peaceful activism. Unlike other human rights defenders who were released on bail in March 2013 following a High Court ruling that abolished provisions and sentences relating to charges of assembly, Al-Rawahi remained in prison because he had been convicted on charges of insulting the Sultan.
