Majed Yassin is a journalist from Ibb Governorate, in Yemen, who was arrested on 24 November 2021 by a security force affiliated with the Houthis. He was detained by the Political Security in Ibb on accusations of insulting the Houthis through posts on his Facebook page, where he addressed public concerns, defended citizens rights, and fought corruption in the Governorate. His arrest sparked a broad solidarity campaign by fellow journalists and citizens on social media. The Yemeni Journalists Syndicate condemned the arrest in a public appeal on Facebook, urging authorities not to involve journalists in conflicts or treat them as easy targets through repression and violence. On 04 January 2022, sources confirmed that Majed Yassin was released by the Political Security in Ibb.
