Mohamed Imad

Mohamed Imad is a Yemeni photographer known for his coverage of the 2011 revolution who was arrested on 23 September 2014 by Houthi forces while walking in the Al-Sanina district of Sana’a, during which he was searched, questioned and had his mobile phone confiscated before being released a few hours later. Imad’s brief detention took place in a wider context of escalating repression against journalists and media workers in Yemen, where the Houthis and other armed groups have systematically targeted the press through arbitrary arrests, intimidation, confiscation of equipment, torture and enforced disappearances.
