Mohammed Al-Ajmi

Mohammed Al-Ajmi is a Kuwaiti blogger and online activist who has faced repeated harassment and physical attacks due to his outspoken criticism of corruption within state institutions and his calls for comprehensive reforms. On 5 October 2022, he was physically assaulted in Kuwait, and again on 11 June 2023 in Egypt.  Mohammed Al-Ajmi possesses evidence indicating that these attacks were orchestrated by high-ranking officials within the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior. In response to these threats, he fled Kuwait on 6 June 2023 and arrived in Istanbul, Turkey, on 13 June 2023. Upon arrival, he informed Turkish authorities of his intent to seek political asylum. Initially detained at Sabiha Gökçen International Airport, he was later released and permitted to apply for asylum.
