Mohammed Ali Bakhit (Abu Ali Al-Barami) is a writer and online activist from Oman. He is the author of “Men from Dhofar,” a book covering the lives of men from the core of the Omani Dhofar community. On 7 March 2024, he was arbitrarily arrested by security forces in the city of Salalah and detained in an unknown location without any contact with the outside world. The charges against him were issued in response to personal opinions he expressed on social media, which were seen as critical towards the government and its ministers. On 30 March 2024, he was acquitted of the charges against him and was subsequently released.
