Mohammed Qahtan is a prominent Yemeni politician and senior member of the Islah Party. On 4 April 2015, he was forcibly disappeared by Houthi forces in Sana’a. His whereabouts remain unknown, and he has not been allowed contact with his family or legal representatives. Human rights organizations have condemned his detention as arbitrary and called for his immediate release. In 2024, a UN-brokered agreement reportedly included his release in exchange for the release of 50 Houthi prisoners. However, the Houthis have not confirmed whether Qahtan is alive or dead, and his fate remains uncertain.
