Mohammed Thatha
Mohammed Thatha (Also spelled Mohammed Zaza), a Syrian human rights lawyer, was the assistant of Khalil Ma’touq, the director of the Syrian Center for Legal Studies and Research. On 02 October 2012, both were forcibly disappeared during their commute from Sahnaya to Damascus. Reports suggest they were detained at a government security checkpoint due to their human rights work. Their whereabouts remained unknown for years, and the Syrian authorities never acknowledged Thatha’s detention. On 31 October 2025, Khalil Ma’touq’s family announced his death on Facebook, without mentioning Thatha.
