Mustafa Mohammed Al-Moumri
Mustafa Mohammed Al-Moumri is a prominent Yemeni YouTuber and social media activist known for his outspoken criticism of the Houthi authorities. In December 2022, Mustafa Al-Moumri was arrested in Sana’a after publishing videos that accused Houthi leaders of corruption and mismanagement. On 21 March 2023, the Houthi Specialised Criminal Court sentenced Mustafa Al-Moumri to 18 months in prison on charges of “spreading misinformation,” “harming public interest,” and “inciting the masses to commit acts of chaos.” The court also ordered the deletion of his YouTube channel, which had amassed over two million subscribers. Human rights organisations have condemned the sentencing of Mustafa Al-Moumri and other detained YouTubers, viewing it as part of a broader crackdown on dissent and freedom of expression in Yemen.
