Narges Hosseini
Narges Hosseini is an Iranian civil rights activist who became widely known for her role in the 2017 protests against compulsory hijab laws in Iran, after standing unveiled on a utility box in Tehran. Narges Hosseini was later arrested and faced charges including “encouraging immorality and improper conduct”. In September 2022, she was among dozens of women arrested amid the crackdown on protests sparked by Mahsa Amini’s death, reaffirming her enduring commitment to bodily autonomy and women’s rights under severe authoritarian repression.
