Osama Khalid is a Saudi paediatrician, blogger, and prominent Wikipedian. He is known as a beacon for free knowledge, having volunteered countless hours towards enriching Wikipedia’s Arabic entries and championing values of transparency and open access to information. He was arbitrarily arrested in July 2020 on unknown charges, likely related to his volunteer work on Wikipedia, and sentenced to five years in prison. This sentence was later increased to 32 years.
